Welcome to my website!By using the buttons on the left, you can access my professional credits, portfolio, showreels, etc. There's a link to my Spotlight page (on the links page, funnily enough!). There's also a newsblog, giving updates about what I'm up to professionally.
About MeFirstly, please note that I am not now, nor have I ever been, the landlady of the Rovers Return. My real name is Ann Elizabeth Walker, but that was too long for the name tapes for my school clothes, so I became Ann E Walker. The actress Doris Speed was at the height of her popularity in Corrie at the time, hence I am now Annie Walker. I am an Actor, a daughter, a sister, an auntie (love ya Tom & Alix) and many, many other things (depending on my mood!).
Early Years
I was born and brought up mainly in the North West, with a couple of excursions to South Wales and Sherwood Forest, which has resulted in me developing a pretty good ear for accents. My first stage appearance was at -4 months, my Mother was pregant with me when she appeared in Brigadoon, so I guess you could say acting is in my blood.
Sadly, as a late developer, I didn't have the courage to attempt drama school at 18, and anyway, I wouldn't have been allowed to - in those days, you had to have training for a 'proper' job. So, after many years of working in the 'proper' world, I finally realised my dream of going to drama school. Those years were very interesting and varied, including 8 years as a Catering Officer in the RAF, where I got to fly fast jets (batting eyelashes is a skill I used to be very good at!), fire live weapons, play lots of sports (horse riding, swimming, squash, dinghy sailing, skiing and scuba diving being the main ones - time (and lack of money!) has put paid to some of those, but I can still control a horse and manage not to drown between one end of a swimming pool and the other) and generally boss lots of people around. I also managed to work in Retail Management, Event Management and Alternative Therapies (oooer!).
The Professional Years
Since leaving drama school, I've been lucky enough to play many different and unusual roles for a variety of talented and exciting companies, and I look forward to what the future holds, in the hope that potential employers will see the energy, excitement, skill, commitment, life experience, and above all, professionalism, that I could bring to any production. I'm living in North London, but I have bases in Suffolk and Lancashire, and I have a car (a very very elderly, but reliable Peugeot 106), and am happy to pootle around the country for work. I also have a British passport valid until 2017 and would be more than happy to employ that to fly to exotic locations for work!
In the meantime, have a look around this website using the links on the left and do contact me if you like!
Warmest regards,
Annie
